Clean Diesel Technologies Licenses RJM to Employ
ARIS 2000 NOx Reduction Technology for Stationary Diesel Engines

STAMFORD, CT (November 18, 1999)- Clean Diesel Technologies, Inc. (EBB:CDTI) announced today that it has agreed to license to Ridgefield, CT-based RJM Corporation exclusive marketing rights in North, Central and South America for CDT’s patented ARISTM 2000 urea-based SCR technology for control of NOx emissions from stationary diesel engines. Under the agreement, CDT will transfer to RJM all of CDT’s current business in the licensed fields of use, but retain rights to all other markets worldwide. Marine and railroad diesels are the only mobile engines included in the agreement.

According to CDT Chief Operating Officer James M. Valentine, the parties expect to consummate the agreement during the first quarter of 2000, pending completion of due diligence. The transaction involves a one-time payment to CDT, with royalties payable thereafter on sales of ARIS systems. Valentine commented that CDT had previously announced its intention to commercialize the ARIS technology by licensing to companies active in related fields. "We’ll continue to market licenses for this technology for mobile applications and for all applications in Europe and Asia," he said. "RJM holds a strong market position for NOx control from stationary power plants," Valentine said. "This agreement reflects a logical extension of their capabilities to the marketing of NOx emission controls for stationary, marine and locomotive diesel engines. We see measurable benefits to both our companies resulting from this strategic licensing agreement."

RJM Chief Operating Officer Gifford Broderick said, "Under this agreement, RJM will sell complete systems for the control of NOx from stationary engines using the Urea SCR process. "CDT’s ARIS system has been evaluated by us as the most cost-effective Urea SCR system," he said, "and its performance has been proven in field demonstrations and recent commercial applications. We shall offer the system both for new and retrofit installations. "This business complements RJM’s business of controlling NOx emissions from large boilers by means of combustion modification, controls, computer fluid dynamic modeling and selective non-catalytic conversion using urea," Broderick said. He added that RJM is a licensed implementer of Fuel Tech, Inc.’s NOx OutTM Process.
