Products - Coal - Burner - Flow Balancing
RJM offers two coal flow balancing technologies: the patented, continuous on-line monitoring and balancing system; and the non-continuous, RotorProbe or SMD 10 test techniques.

Both of these technologies optimize burner reliability, which is the method of choice to control NOx formation, as well as costly operating and maintenance issues.

Benefits:

  • Superheater temperature profiles become more uniform.
  • Excess air levels decrease, lowering fuel costs.
  • Flame stability improves.
  • Allows on-line adjusting, for the fine tuning necessary to balance coal and primary airflow.
  • Reduces costly operating and maintenance concerns.
  • Insures that all burners receive equal fuel and primary airflow.

How they work:
The continuous on-line coal flow monitoring and balancing system features an adjustable and variable coal flow orifice, which allows for fine tuning the balance of coal and airflow for each individual burner. This method will average coal flows to within ±10% of mean flow.

The non-continuous, RotorProbe or SMD 10 test techniques allow a one-time, coal flow balancing program to achieve proper coal and airflow through adjustments to RJM's coal distribution device or a fixed orifice. This method will average coal flows to within ±10%.
