This device also allows on-line balancing of the different hydraulic lengths of each coal pipe to reduce or eliminate pipe-to-pipe maldistributions.

• Normalizes cross-sectional coal distribution at the discharge of the coal pipe within ±10%.
• Reduces fly ash carbon content by as much as 30% (even in low NOx burner applications).
• Improves heat rate by as much as 0.25%.

How it works:
Each device has a unique coal launch ring, which removes any coal rope from the wall boundary layers and injects it into the primary air stream. It also has a vortex generator which, through the creation of micro-eddies, breaks up and redistributes the coal rope uniformly throughout the pipe.

Simple, jam-free mechanisms (located at the discharge of the last elbow of each line into the burner) equalize the hydraulic length of each line to balance coal flows to each burner.
